Write the Check! Guest Blogger Leah Jantzen

Today’s guest blog comes from Life and Business Coach Leah Jantzen.  Mother of 4, Leah empowers women to design and create a life that meets their ambitious needs while fulfilling their motherly duties; “rocking their business while rocking their babies!”

My dad is what you would call “old school.”  Turning 70 this year, he still believes in paying cash for everything, is anti-call waiting, and until recently did not own a cell phone. Thanks to me you can now find him driving around in his Prius without a seat belt on, cell phone in the center console, probably on vibrate.  At least he is only breaking one law…

Have you ever had something that you always wanted to do but were afraid to pursue for fear of people’s reactions or comments?  I talked about becoming a life coach for many years before I finally made the decision to do it.  I was so intimidated by the reactions I would get from people, “What on earth is a life coach?” and “Who is going to pay you to ‘coach’ them?” I gave these imaginary people so much power that it paralyzed me for years. My vision was clear but the obstacles and fear were still too strong.

My dad would always remind me of my nagging dream.  He would ask me time and time again if I had signed up for the coursework, to which I would invariably answer with an excuse.  “Stop talking about it and just do it!” he would say.  I wanted to do it but my fears still outweighed my excitement.  What if I got certified and had no clients? What would that say about ME?

Write the Check; Do the Thing you want to do!Finally he took me aside and said, “Leah, just write the check. Once you write that check and make the commitment everything else will fall into place.”  All I could think of was “But Dad, I don’t really have time…but Dad the money, but Dad…”  No more buts, its time to write the check.

So what dream has been eluding you all these years that you have been afraid to pursue? If someone told you to “write the check” what would they be referring to?  You have talked yourself out of it long enough.  It’s time to get out of your own way and just write that check!

I am a wife and mom and animal lover who is passionate about health and about following my dreams. I am a lover of change and challenges! I started my home business almost two years ago and I have been able to switch to part-time instead of full-time high school teaching. How wonderful to be creating a dream life and helping others to do so as well -- all while finding healthier versions of products we all use everyday.

So often we think about things too long or we sort of start and we do them halfway, and then we don’t succeed. I love the quick “write the check!” statement to catch our attention.
